Jewelry Care Guide
Proper care keeps your jewelry looking new for decades. Built to last — treat it that way.
Daily Routine
Put on last. Apply perfume, lotion, and hair products before jewelry.
Take off first. Remove jewelry before bed, exercise, or shower.
Wipe down. Use a soft cloth after each wear to remove oils.
Sterling Silver
- Wipe with a soft, lint-free cloth after each wear to remove oils and moisture.
- Store in an airtight bag or anti-tarnish pouch to slow oxidation.
- Use a silver polishing cloth for light tarnish. For heavier tarnish, use a silver-safe cleaning solution.
- Avoid wearing silver in chlorinated pools, hot tubs, or salt water.
- Tarnishing is natural and expected — it does not indicate a defect.
Gold Vermeil
- Gold vermeil is 2.5 microns of gold over sterling silver — thicker and more durable than standard plating.
- Clean with warm water, mild soap, and a soft brush. Dry thoroughly with a lint-free cloth.
- Avoid abrasive cleaners, polishing compounds, or ultrasonic cleaners which can wear the gold layer.
- Remove before swimming, showering, or exercising to preserve the gold finish.
- With proper care, gold vermeil can maintain its appearance for years. Re-plating is available — contact [email protected].
Leather Goods
- Keep leather dry. If it gets wet, pat with a dry cloth and let it air dry naturally — never use heat.
- Condition leather every 3-6 months with a leather conditioner to prevent cracking.
- Store leather goods in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
- Avoid contact with oils, perfumes, and lotions which can stain or discolor leather.
- Leather develops a natural patina over time — this is a desirable characteristic, not damage.
Stones & Settings
- Check stone settings periodically for looseness. If a stone moves, stop wearing and contact us.
- Clean gemstones with warm soapy water and a soft brush. Avoid harsh chemicals.
- Remove jewelry before activities that could impact stones (sports, heavy lifting, gardening).
- Some stones (turquoise, opal, pearl) are porous — avoid prolonged water exposure and chemicals.
- Have settings inspected annually by a jeweler to ensure stones remain secure.
What to Avoid
Avoid prolonged sun exposure — UV can fade certain stones and materials.
Avoid wearing during high-impact activities or sports.
Remove before swimming, showering, or hot tubs — chlorine and salt damage metals.
Never store jewelry in humid environments like bathrooms.
Storage
- Store each piece separately to prevent scratching. Use individual pouches or compartments.
- Keep silver in airtight bags with anti-tarnish strips to slow oxidation.
- Store in a cool, dry place — avoid bathrooms and humid environments.
- For leather goods, stuff with acid-free paper to maintain shape. Store flat or hung.
- Use a jewelry box with a soft lining. Avoid stacking pieces directly on top of each other.
